Description
It is really quite surreal floating in the middle of the Yamuna river at sunset looking at this building. It was commissioned by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in 1632 to house the remains of his wife. They began building this in 1632 and it would go on to take about 20 years to complete.
I love historic architecture and the incredible feeling it gives you. The Taj has a presence not just because of the sheer size of it but also because of its mystical stature in Indian history.
The goal in photography is to try to capture that feeling but I feel as though as much as I photograph this place I will never be able to truly convey what it feels like to be there. I will keep trying though.
