We were lucky enough to get to know Ardah and his family whilst shooting in the remote west of Mongolia near the town of Altai in winter. What a character this man was. He carries generations of knowledge about his people and traditions. He is the leader of his people in this area and he was so much fun to be around. We were allowed unlimited access and insights into the Kazakh culture and in particular the Eagle Hunters way of life. I may have a new favourite country.
Their nomadic lifestyle provides a freedom that most of the world strives for but never actually attain. Simplicity is the key for them. Having this horse galloping straight towards me made sure I was awake for the sunrise. What a morning it was.
I can honestly now say I have found a photographic paradise full of age old traditions, incredible landscapes and the most wonderful people you could ever hope to meet.
