Four bodies of work from seventeen years of travel. Lineage has its own room.
Where Lineage gives you the person, Encounters gives you the life around them: the hut, the horse, the smoke, the long ride home.

Quiet landscapes, chosen for light and stillness. The accessible way to begin collecting.

Black and white, close and unhurried. The same eye as Lineage, turned to the animals that share these places.

The Arabana lake in flood, and the patterns it leaves behind. Colour drawn by water, salt and time.
Kati Thanda is the Arabana name for the lake most people know as Lake Eyre. It is the lowest point in the country, and for most of its life it is a white crust of salt under a hard sky. Then, about once in a hundred years, the water comes.
The rain that fills it usually falls in Queensland, hundreds of kilometres away, and it spends months working its way across the desert, down creeks that are dry most years. When the lake was about to flood the way it does once in a century, I knew I had to go. So I went.
From the air it stopped looking like a place and started looking like a painting. Water, salt and mud, drawn into colour I would not have believed if I had not seen it. Red, pink, green, blue, white. No two frames were alike.
These are the pictures I brought back. I was only there for a moment of something that takes a hundred years to happen.
