This isn’t a typical European sightseeing trip. It’s a refined photographic expedition shaped around the best light, exclusive locations, and deep local knowledge. Learn from an Experienced Photography Expedition Leader
One of the most rewarding parts of this journey is learning directly from me, Glenn McKimmin, a Fujifilm X Photographer with over 17 years of experience leading photography tours around the world. I’ve guided more than 500 photographers through extraordinary landscapes from Mongolia’s reindeer tribes to the Himalayas helping them capture light, story, and emotion with confidence.
Having travelled through Slovenia three times before, I know this country’s rhythm intimately. I understand how the winter mist behaves over Lake Bled, when the Julian Alps reveal their best light, and where to find the quiet angles away from the crowds. Together, we’ll photograph frozen waterfalls, emerald rivers cutting through snow, fairytale lakes, and those iconic hilltop churches glowing under soft winter skies.
Throughout the tour, I’ll share hands-on guidance, personalised feedback, and the practical techniques that elevate your work. Whether it’s composing in tricky winter conditions, balancing exposure in bright snow, or capturing Slovenia’s mood and subtle magic, this experience is designed to push your creativity in all the right ways.
This isn’t just a photography trip it’s a carefully crafted journey built to help you return home with a refined portfolio, a deeper understanding of visual storytelling, and a stronger, more confident photographic voice.

Every day offers the chance to capture the intimate connection between landscape, light, and silence framed by Slovenia’s magical winter glow.

Frequently Asked Questions
What photography equipment should I bring?
Since this is a landscape-focused winter tour, a selection of wide and long lenses will give you the most flexibility. Wide lenses are perfect for capturing expansive alpine scenes, frozen lakes, and dramatic winter skies, while telephoto lenses help isolate hilltop churches, mountain layers, and details within the landscape. A sturdy tripod is essential for sunrise, sunset, and low-light shooting in misty or snowy conditions. Bring the gear you’re comfortable with, and you’ll be set to create powerful, atmospheric images throughout the journey.
Is this tour suitable for all skill levels?
Most of our tours are fine for beginners, but if you are a little unsure we always recommend a one on one training sessions with Glenn Mckimmin prior to any tour.
How physically demanding is the trip?
This Slovenia Winter Tour is very manageable for most participants. While there are a few short hikes to reach viewpoints and frozen waterfalls, they’re taken at a relaxed pace and suitable for anyone with moderate fitness. Most of the journey is focused on photography rather than strenuous activity, with comfortable transport and plenty of downtime to enjoy our boutique hotels and wellness facilities.
What is the accomodation and food like?

We stay in beautiful boutique hotels chosen for their comfort, charm, and incredible proximity to our photographic locations.
