Photograph the Big Cats of India Across Its Wild Jungles, Ancient Landscapes, and Cultural Heart
India is one of those places that gets under your skin.
This journey is built around one of the greatest wildlife experiences on the planet tracking and photographing tigers in the wild. From the dense forests of Bandhavgarh and Kanha to the rugged landscapes of Jawai and Gir, we’ll be working across some of India’s most iconic national parks in search of not just tigers, but leopards, Asiatic lions, and a rich diversity of wildlife along the way.
But what makes this experience truly special is what happens in between.
We move through ancient cities, historic forts, and vibrant streets, experiencing a side of India that is just as powerful as its wildlife. One of the highlights of the journey is the Holi Festival — an explosion of colour, energy, and culture that offers an entirely different photographic opportunity and a deeper connection to the country itself.
To allow us to move efficiently between these regions and maximise time in the field, all internal flights are included throughout the journey creating a seamless experience across what is otherwise a vast and complex country.
I’ve spent time in these regions refining how we approach them photographically keeping things flexible, working with the light, and focusing on real moments rather than rushed experiences. The aim is not just to come away with strong images, but with a genuine understanding of the places we move through.
This is a layered journey. Wild, unpredictable, and incredibly rewarding.

Why This Tour Is Different?
Why This Tour Is Unlike Any Other
While many photography tours through India focus on ticking off destinations, this journey is designed for depth, patience, and real opportunity. Built around the pursuit of big cats, we spend meaningful time in some of the country’s most productive wildlife regions, allowing for repeated access, better light, and a far greater chance of creating truly strong images.
But what sets this experience apart is the balance between wildlife and the broader story of India itself. From tracking tigers in the early morning mist to photographing leopards in the rugged landscapes of Jawai, and then stepping into the colour and energy of the Holi Festival, this is a journey that moves between worlds in a way few tours do.
Having spent extensive time working in these regions, Glenn has refined this itinerary to prioritise not just sightings, but photographic outcomes. The pace, locations, and timing are all carefully considered, giving you the space to work scenes properly, respond to changing conditions, and capture images that go beyond the obvious.
This isn’t a fast-paced sightseeing trip. It’s a considered photographic expedition built on experience, access, and an understanding of what it takes to create meaningful work in the field.
Learn from an Experienced Photography Expedition Leader
One of the most rewarding aspects of this journey is learning directly from me, Glenn McKimmin, a Fujifilm X Photographer with over 17 years of experience leading photography tours across the globe. I’ve guided more than 500 photographers through some of the world’s most remarkable destinations, from the Himalayas to Mongolia, helping them capture light, story, and emotion in every frame.
Having spent extensive time working across India, I understand the pace of these environments, the behaviour of wildlife, and how to position ourselves for the strongest photographic opportunities. From early morning safaris in tiger country to working the changing light across varied landscapes, we’ll approach each moment with intention and patience.
Throughout the tour, I’ll offer hands-on guidance, personalised feedback, and professional insight to help you elevate your craft. Whether it’s refining composition in fast-moving wildlife situations, anticipating behaviour, or building stronger visual narratives, this experience is designed to support both your technical growth and creative development.
This isn’t just a photography trip it’s a carefully considered expedition designed to help you return with a deeper understanding of storytelling, technique, and your own photographic voice.
The Wild Heart of India
A Photographer’s Playground for Big Cats and Wild Landscapes
India offers one of the most dynamic and rewarding wildlife environments in the world.
From the dense jungles of Bandhavgarh and Kanha, where tigers move silently through filtered light, to the rugged terrain of Jawai, home to elusive leopards, and the dry forests of Gir, where the last Asiatic lions roam, this journey places you in the heart of some of the most iconic ecosystems on the planet.
But it’s not just about the animals.
It’s the atmosphere, the light, and the unpredictability of these environments that make India so compelling to photograph. Early mornings filled with mist and anticipation, late afternoons where the landscape glows with warmth, and those fleeting moments where everything aligns to create something truly special.
This is a place that rewards patience and presence where every sighting feels earned, and every frame carries a sense of depth and story.

Frequently Asked Questions
What photography equipment should I bring?
Camera gear can vary since everyone shoots differently. This tour isn’t strictly landscape-focused due to the unique nature of photographing wildlife and culture in India. A versatile mix of lenses is recommended, along with a tripod for capturing stunning sunrises and sunsets.
Is this tour suitable for all skill levels?
Most of our tours are fine for beginners, but if you are a little unsure we always recommend a one on one training sessions with Glenn Mckimmin prior to any tour.
How physically demanding is the trip?
This Tour is not overly demanding physically. While there is bumpy driving whilst in the national parks, the walks are minimal and manageable for most participants. It’s an adventure focused more on photography than strenuous activities.
What is the accomodation and food like?
Accommodation has been carefully selected to balance comfort, character, and location. From well-appointed jungle lodges to heritage properties, each stay enhances the overall experience. Meals are a highlight, offering a mix of high-quality local and international cuisine throughout the journey.
