Why This Tour Is Different?

Why This Tour Is Unlike Any Other

While most photography tours fight for space among hundreds of other photographers at crowded public festivals, our group enjoys exclusive access to a private Eagle Hunter Festival created just for us.
Every portrait, every frame, every sunrise is yours alone no crowds, no distractions, just authentic moments shared with the families who keep this ancient art alive.

Landscapes of the Altai Are A Photographer’s Dream

The Untamed Beauty of the Altai Mountains

The Altai Mountains are where Mongolia’s wild heart beats strongest, a landscape carved by time and untouched by modern life. Towering snow-capped peaks, frozen rivers, and sweeping valleys create an ever-changing canvas of light and shadow. From soft dawn hues to the golden glow of sunset, every moment here offers a chance to capture something extraordinary.

This region is a dream for landscape photographers. The scale is immense, the colours dramatic, and the isolation profound. Whether it’s the contrast of reindeer against the snow, the vast openness of the Taiga forest, or the dance of light over mountain ridges, the Altai rewards patience and presence. Every frame tells a story wild, elemental, and timeless.

Frequently Asked Questions

What photography equipment should I bring?

Camera gear can vary since everyone shoots differently. This tour isn’t strictly landscape-focused due to the unique nature of photographing eagle hunters. A versatile mix of lenses is recommended, along with a tripod for capturing stunning sunrises and sunsets.

Is this tour suitable for all skill levels?

Most of our tours are fine for beginners, but if you are a little unsure we always recommend a one on one training sessions with Glenn Mckimmin prior to any tour.

How physically demanding is the trip?

The Mongolia Eagle Hunters Tour is not overly demanding physically. While there is bumpy driving each day, the walks are minimal and manageable for most participants. It’s an adventure focused more on photography than strenuous activities.

What is the accomodation and food like?

The accommodation and food during our time with the eagle hunters are fairly basic but authentic, providing an immersive experience into the local culture. Expect simple yet comfortable gers (traditional Mongolian tents) and hearty, rustic meals. This experience is designed to bring you closer to the way of life of the eagle hunters, offering a rare and rewarding opportunity to live like them, even if just for a short time. It’s all part of the adventure!
